How to Switch Nodes & Update Your Subscription — SSRocket Guide (Shadowrocket / Clash)

Changing nodes is really just two steps: pick a node on the websiteupdate your subscription (in the app). This guide explains, in plain language, what each step is, what it’s for, and how to do it.

1. First, One Word: What Is a “Subscription”?

When you join SSRocket, your account comes with one subscription link. Think of it as a node list — it shows all the nodes you can use (different regions, different routes).

Once you import this list into your client app (Shadowrocket, Clash, etc.), a row of nodes appears in the app — pick one, connect, and you’re online.

This list isn’t fixed: we tune and adjust nodes from time to time, and you can switch which node you use. That leads to the two things below.

2. Switch Node: Change Region, or Pick a Faster Route

What it is: on the SSRocket website, change the node you’re using to a different one.

What it’s for:

  • you want content from a different region;
  • your current node is a bit slow at peak hours, or unstable;
  • you want a closer, faster node.

How to do it:

  1. Log in to your SSRocket account (My Account).
  2. Find the “Node Subscription” card — there’s a node list below it.
  3. Select the node you want, then tap “Switch.” A success message means you’re done.

That’s it. But to actually use the new node in your app, there’s one last step — updating the subscription.

3. Update Subscription: Get the Latest Node List Into Your App (the key step)

This is the step most people miss and get stuck on, so let’s be clear about what it is and why it matters.

An analogy: your subscription is like a newspaper that gets updated. The website just published a “new issue” (you switched a node, or we adjusted routes) — but your app won’t receive it automatically; you have to “go pick up” the latest issue yourself. “Updating the subscription” in the app is picking up that latest list.

So remember: switching on the website = placing the order; updating in the app = receiving the delivery. Order without delivery, and the new node never reaches you. That’s why “I switched on the site but nothing changed in the app” happens — the update step was skipped.

Here’s how to update, using Shadowrocket and Clash as examples.

Shadowrocket (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Open Shadowrocket and go to the home screen.
  2. On the home screen, pull down to refresh — it fetches the latest node list.
  3. Once refreshed, select the node you just switched to and flip the top toggle to connect.

Clash (desktop / Android)

  1. Open Clash and go to the “Profiles” page (your subscription lives here).
  2. On your SSRocket card, tap the refresh button (a little circular ↻ icon) — it fetches the latest list.
  3. Go to the “Proxies” page and select the node you just switched to (or pick “Auto” to let it choose the fastest).

Tip: whenever a node changes (you switched, or we updated routes), you just update the subscription in the app like this — no need to re-import or re-copy the link.

4. Common Questions

Q: I switched a node on the website, but nothing changed in the app?
A: Update the subscription in the app (pull-to-refresh in Shadowrocket / tap refresh in Clash), then re-select that node.

Q: Do I need to re-copy the link or re-import when updating?
A: No. For everyday updates, just tap refresh in the app — the link stays the same.

Q: Will updating the subscription wipe my settings?
A: No. It only refreshes the node list to the latest; your other settings stay put.
