“Imported” only means the client received content. It does not prove the content was valid Clash YAML. Common causes include:
- the server returned a login, error, or verification page instead of a configuration;
- the subscription expired, the plan is inactive, or its allowance is exhausted;
- the URL returned a format intended for another client;
- the YAML is incomplete and contains no usable proxies or proxy groups;
- the client cached a previous failed response.
Do not start rewriting a large YAML file by hand. Confirm the subscription state in the account center and use the provider's Clash-specific import action when available.
4. Certificate or TLS errors
A certificate error is not ordinary latency. It means the client cannot verify the server's identity. Correct the system clock, retry on a trusted network, and check whether the browser also reports a certificate problem for the subscription host.
Treat any “allow invalid certificates” option as a temporary diagnostic for experts, not a daily setting. The durable repair is a valid certificate over a trusted path.
5. The update times out
A timeout can come from DNS, routing between your network and the subscription host, corporate or campus restrictions, or a temporary server incident. Wait briefly and retry once, test a mobile hotspot, confirm that other HTTPS sites load, and record the exact time and error before asking support. Repeated rapid refreshes can trigger rate limits and make diagnosis harder.
6. The profile imports, but websites still do not work
The failure has now moved beyond subscription import. Confirm that the profile is active, a working proxy is selected, the intended proxy mode is enabled, and system proxy or TUN is configured as required. Check whether another VPN or DNS tool is taking control. Test a normal site before a region-restricted service so that a provider policy is not mistaken for a general connection failure.
