If you bought the China-access service to reach Chinese apps and sites from abroad, one client setting makes or breaks it: the mode. Proxy clients ship with Rule mode by default, whose built-in logic says “China-bound traffic goes direct, everything else goes through the node.” That logic was designed for the opposite direction of travel.
When your goal is reaching Chinese services, Rule mode looks at the destination, sees China, and sends the request straight out — your return node never gets used, and the service appears to do nothing.
The fix takes one tap: switch the client to Global mode while using return nodes, so all traffic rides the node. Switch back to Rule mode afterwards for regular use.
